Gangnam Psy

Gangnam Psy will be performing in Singapore on 1st Dec,2012, it will be a free standing concert.
Thanks to Singapore Integrated Resort -IR , Marina Bay Sands, which is organising  the Psy free concert at the open space facing the Marina Bay water front.
within  2 hours,All the 4000 complimentary tickets have already been given away to fans who visited Marina Bay Sands facebook.

Marina Bay Sands is organizing this free concert as part of its special "Give back to Singapore" public showcase.

Maybe Marina Bay sands should have reserved some tickets for children from the lower income homes.
But it is still a good gesture of Marina Bay Sands to organize Psy Gangnam show for free, as should it be a ticket selling show it would certainly be quite pricy, cause as of latest news, viewer-ship of Psy's Famous Gangnam Style on YouTube is going to hit 900 million.
Hope more Multi-National Corporations, not only in Singapore, but also everywhere, would also organize free International Artiste concert and gives the "Tidings Of Joys to everyone." during Christmas Time.

Taxi Driver In Singapore returns S$1.1 million to his Passenger

On Nov,12th in Singapore, Mr Sia Ka Tian 70, a taxi driver returned cash of Sg$1.1 million ($900,000) to a Thai couple who left the money in his cab while on holiday here..
On Monday, Mr.Sia Ka Tian, said he was shocked to find the money in a black paper bag on the back seat  after he dropped the couple off at a shopping centre

Quote from the Straits Times.
Mr Sia, a 31-year veteran in the taxi business thought that "he was sure there was at least $200,000 in the bag,"
After reporting the money to the taxi transport company ComfortDelGro's lost-and-found office, his colleagues counted Sg$1.1 million in thousand-dollar bills. (I am sure the figure must have shocked him as Who would have been so careless as to drop a 1.1 million dollar - singApraise )

"The money is unimportant to me. It doesn't belong to me, so how can I use it?" he told the newspaper.
The Thai couple who had reported the loss to the transport company, met Mr. Sia when they arrived to claim the money.

The grateful Thai Couple presented Mr Sia with an undisclosed cash reward and the company Comfort will be giving him an award for his honesty.
"Finding one million dollars in cash is not an everyday affair and in fact, we wonder how many people would have possibly been tempted" to pocket it, company spokeswoman Tammy Tan told AFP.
"We are immensely proud of him and are glad that the passengers recovered their money."

singApraise to Mr Sia and also another Honest cabby as todate -
It was the most valuable item returned by a cabbie working for the company. In 2009, another taxi driver returned five kilograms (11 pounds) of gold bars worth Sg$377,000.

Freedom to Walk- Volunteers Walked to raise fund & awareness against human trafficking

Read from Yahoo news that Freedom to Walk organized a 15-day, 370-kilometre walk from Bangkok to the Burmese border to raise funds and awareness against human trafficking and to help those who have been trafficked and are trying to survive

The walk ended on 17 November at the place where the stateless refugees live. It is at the Three Pagodas Pass in the Thai-Burmese border. The refugees living here are vulnerable and at risk of being trafficked. The route that participating volunteer walkers  took from Bangkok to this pass is the same one that traffickers use to get their victims from here to the Thai capital.

Kyle Ng a Singaporean who participated in the walk is happy that donations continued to pour in, and he had reached his target of raising US$5,000. “I thought I might raise half, but I managed to reach my whole target – and just a few days after my birthday too,” he says proudly. “People were so generous; some donated just because of me. That was very humbling, and I had to learn how to receive graciously. Every morning I woke up dizzy with gratitude.”

Good News - A cure for CANCER found in Apricot seed and manioc

Received an Email from a friend here in Singapore  about this Dr. Cynthia Jayasuriya, a Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon and how she was cured of her cancer in her kidney, ureter and a little part of the bladder

I have read some articles about finding an easier and cheaper method of curing cancer, and the Article by Dr Jayasuriya seems most logic. And its inexpensive as manioc, also known as tapioca and ubi kaya in Asia could be easily grown in any small plot of garden.

I hope this Article from Dr Jayasuriya will bring relief and hope for those who have cancel relapse.
as cancer treatment need not be expensive and extensive

Good news from the Philippines 12th Oct,2012-not one but 3 GOOD NEWS

On 7th October, 2012 Sunday, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front agreed in Principle to PEACE on the southern  island of Mindanao after 40 years of civil war.
Could be that the Muslims there FINALLY believed that without peace, they and their children would just see the world  pass  by with economic success whilst they would always linger behind. Linger behind not only from the rest of the world but also with the rest of  other parts of Philippines.

That thought could come in the number 2 good news for the Philippines, because that following day, the World Bank, which has been  downsizing growth projections around the world, raised the growth rate of the Philippines to 5 per cent after the country expanded 6.1 percent in the first half, among the best performing economy after China.

But We know that growth can achieve so much if there is war in the country. After decades of  uncertain economic performance , there are signs that their economy may finally going on smoothly .

In July, Standard & Poor upgraded Philippine's sovereign debt to one notch below investment grade- an improvement . Their Foreign Exchange reserves have risen five fold since 2005

3rd Good news, the brain drain to Singapore could become a BRAIN GAIN when they open 2 casino complexes next year. It will be staffed by  Filipino managers and resort staff trained in Singapore.

With meaningful effort, from every one, north to south, their country may work as one and bring peace and prosperity- no matter how small to their "PEOPLES COUNTRY" after years of corruption and war.

Nobel Literature winner 10th OCtober 2012

Chinese writer Mo Yan wining the Nobel prize for literature

Chinese author Mo ( Yan Guan Moye) wins Nobel Prize for Literature

Mo Yan
Chinese author Mo Yan has won the 2012 Nobel Prize for literature.
His first work was published in 1981.
The Swedish Academy praised his work which "with hallucinatory realism merges folk tales, history and the contemporary".

Mo is the 109th recipient of the prestigious prize, presented by the Nobel Foundation, the award - only given to living writers - is worth 8 million kronor (£741,000).

Born Guan Moye, the author writes under the pen name Mo Yan, which means "don't speak" in Chinese.
He began writing while serving in the People's Liberation Army (PLA).
His Chinese novel, Red Sorghum received international fame in 1987
China's filmmaker Zhang Yimou made it into a film on this story of the brutal violence in the eastern China countryside where he grew up during the 1920s and 1930s. It won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 1988.

Mo enjoyed writing about China's past rather than contemporary issues, his novels range from the 1911 revolution, Japan's wartime invasion and Mao Zedong's Cultural Revolution.

Mo had  4 other acclaimed works  and one of them,  Wide Hips was translated into English later, the book won him a nomination for the Man Asian Literary Prize.

His latest novel, Frog, about China's "one child" population control policy, won the Mao Dun Literature Prize - one of his country's most prestigious literature prizes - last year.
Mo and the other Nobel laureates for medicine, physics, chemistry and peace, will receive their prizes at formal ceremonies in Stockholm and Oslo on 10 December - the anniversary of the death of prize creator Alfred Nobel in 1896.
Mo Yan's Red Sorghum (simplified Chinese: 高粱; traditional Chinese: 高粱; pinyin: Hóng Gāoliáng) is a 1987 Chinese film about a young woman's life working on a distillery for sorghum liquor.
The film marked the directorial debut of internationally acclaimed filmmaker Zhang Yimou, and the acting debut of film star Gong Li. With its lush and lusty portrayal of peasant life, it immediately vaulted Zhang to the forefront of the Fifth Generation directors.

Remember seeing this show and the country side scenery was fantastic.

certainly hope that this award will give rise to more recognition of Chinese literature, and to remember one of China's once great poet, Li Pai

- Chikungunya virus, researchers in Singapore have identified a new way of killing this virus
National University of Singapore(NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of medicine's LEad Investigator Dr Chu Jang Hann said that they have identified a method that can kill this virus within three days.
Currently the treatment is only relieving fever and several joint pains
their study shows that a molecular approach could kill the virus completely through an intravenous method, it employs a small hairpin RNA technology (shRNA) designed against two specific CHIKV genes so as to silence the virus replication, which subsequently destroy the virus genes and block their production.
.Singapore last breakout  of this case was between  2008 and 2010, where it had close to 1000 cases.

singApraise to this new discovery and hope it will be available to the public especially to Africa soon

Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted by the bite of infected mostquitoes. ...by the Aedes mosquitoe symptoms similar to dengue fever, with an acute febrile phase of the illness lasting only two to five days, followed by a prolonged arthralgic disease that affects the joints of the extremities. He dressed as a cowboy, Elvis Presley, then a 10 years old boy stood on a chair to reach the microphone and sang "Old Shep". He recalled being placed in fifth position.

as the 2nd October was Gandhiji's birthday, we would like to share a small part of his greatness  in OUR GOOD NEWS  ..
    Mahatma Gandhiji's View on Christianity
Why I didn’t become a follower of Christ Description: http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQS6pdmoUtI96PCumE_zT0T

If not Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Indian Independence struggle would have taken longer with more bloodshed, division and war.
When senior leaders of the Hindu political groups urged Gandhi to respond 'violence with violence' and 'sword with sword', he opposed insisting and exhorting the path of non–violence and peace, which was Gandhi's biggest sword to combat the trained and fully equipped forces.

For sure this great man is one of the most respected leaders of modern history, for not only his life, but also his ideals and his message to the people.
    Description: http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRGxu3l3_f1oI3OgETAE4_K

Although Hindu, Gandhi had a very close connection with Christianity and admired Jesus very much, often quoting from his favourite 'Sermon on the Mount' chapter in Mathew 5–7.
When the missionary E. Stanley Jones met with Gandhi he asked him,

"Mr. Gandhi, though you quote the words of Christ often, why is that you appear to so adamantly reject becoming his follower?"
    Gandhi replied,

"Oh, I don't reject Christ. I love Christ. It's just that so many of you Christians are so unlike Christ."

    Description: http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRxVyA0pMmWhAhaM9cZdvz0

“If Christians would really live according to the teachings of Christ, as found in the Bible, all of India would be Christian today,” he added.
Gandhi's closeness with Christianity began! when he was a young man practicing law in South Africa. Apart from being attached with the Christian faith, he intently studied the Bible and the teachings of Jesus, and was also seriously exploring becoming a Christian, which led him to his discovery of a small church gathering in his locality.

These strongly entrenched Biblical teachings have always acted a panacea to many of India's problems during its freedom struggle.

After deciding to attend the church service in South Africa, he came across a racial barrier, the church barred his way at the door.

"Where do you think you're going, kaffir?" an English man asked Gandhi in a belligerent tone.

    Gandhi replied,

"I'd like to attend worship here."

The church elder snarled at him,
"There's no room for kaffirs in this church. Get out of here or I'll have my assistants throw you down the steps."
This infamous incident forced Gandhi to never again consider being a Christian, but rather adopt what he found in Christianity and its founder Jesus Christ.
It was good that  Jesus "occassionaly" send a living SAINT to earth . in the 9th Century, there was St Francis of Assisi  who disowned his fathers wealth and clothed himself in a paupers sack. He reminds the world that the poor should not be forgotten
In this century, there were two living Saints in the person of
     - Mother Teresa of India who took in and care the unwanted children and the old and
    -  the late Pope John Paul II, who many believed brought down communism in his native country- Poland and soon to follow, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and finally the Soviet Union.
These both have brought much love and peace to our world

    Anorexia

Read from Todays' Newspaper 1st October,2012
that Ms Emma O'neil at the age of 22,was so thin that lying on a bed left her bruised and her doctor said she was suffering the worst case of anorexia they had seen.

Now eight years on and back in full health, Ms O'neil ,from Glasgow has set up A FOUNDATION with two friends, who has also battled anorexia, to help others who are recovering from an EATING DISORDER.

sad  to know that her worried family and medics had to begged her to eat and up to four nurses had to hold her down to force feed her. only when she collapsed while trying to run across a road , almost being hit by a car that she decided to start  her long road to recovery.

It all started when she was a teenager. She said that she had a very addictive personality and trying to see how thin she could get.
A lot of teenager does not know that anorexia may cause death. SKINNY is not beautiful,  going to that extreme actually makes a beautiful teenage girl looks like a walking skeleton.
Eat well, exercise and FITNESS is the only way to beauty.
